CYK secures another win (and security) for our clients in the Magomedov litigation

On 6 May 2026, Mr Justice Bright handed down judgment in Magomedov & Ors v TPG Group Holdings (SBS), LP & Ors [2026] EWHC 1051 (Comm), finding in favour of CYK clients Domidias Limited and Mr Andrey Severilov.  Mr Justice Bright re-affirmed that the Court has jurisdiction to order security for the costs of a detailed assessment, by granting it in favour of our clients.

This success is the latest in the Magomedov saga, and comes just days after the Court of Appeal found in favour of CYK’s clients (and the other Defendants) in dismissing the Claimants’ application to reopen the decision refusing their permission to appeal the CYK clients’ (and other Defendants’) successful jurisdiction challenge (read the judgment here).  This, in turn, comes hot on the heels of the CYK clients’ successful jurisdiction challenge (see here), Domidias’ win in March 2024, when CYK secured reverse summary judgment in respect of contractual claims brought by parties related Magomedov (see here) and, prior to that, CYK’s successful defence of an application for a US$8.8bn freezing order against Mr Severilov (see here).

The CYK team for the security for costs application comprised partner Lydia Danon and senior associate Julia Ogievetsky, instructing Donald Lilly KC of 4 Stone Buildings.
