CYK celebrates 15-year anniversary and welcomes three new joiners
22 October 2024: This year leading specialist disputes law firm CYK celebrates its 15-year anniversary and welcomes three new joiners to the firm.
CYK began as a litigation boutique in 2009, offering an alternative approach to complex and high-value commercial cases, and is renowned for its lawyers’ tenacity and out-of-the-box legal thinking.
Since that time the demand for exactly this type of approach has grown, as technology has changed the nature of litigation more generally, driving a need for lawyers who are able to innovate in finding legal solutions to cases.
This has fuelled the growth of the CYK brand and its business: its dispute resolution services rank in the top tiers of The Legal 500 and Chambers. It is widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading firms for civil fraud, banking litigation and premium commercial litigation.
The three new joiners arrive at an exciting time. They are Jessica Storey, Sam Macintosh and Iason Pafitis. All three joiners come with overseas experience, further adding to CYK’s international capability.
Prior to joining CYK, Sam was an associate at leading full-service New Zealand law firm Wynn Williams. He has experience advising on a wide range of commercial, contractual, and equity disputes and joins as an associate.
Jessica was previously a barrister at New Zealand’s leading commercial set of barristers’ chambers. She has acted on a wide range of civil, commercial and regulatory matters. She also joins the firm as an associate.
Iason was previously a major scholar of Lincoln’s Inn. He then completed the Graduate Diploma in Law at City Law School and the Bar Course at the Inns of Court College of Advocacy, achieving distinctions both times. Part of his legal experience was gained at the Cypriot law firm Ioannides Demetriou. He joins as a paralegal.
CYK’s managing partner Sinead O’Callaghan says, “CYK is delighted to welcome three new joiners as we celebrate our 15-year anniversary.
The nature of cases has evolved greatly over the past 15 years, and technology is fundamentally changing the way cases are litigated. Our firm’s growth can largely be attributed to our innovative approach to complex cases and the new types of litigation that are emerging.
“With everyone working closely together in our tight-knit firm, we’ve stayed ahead of the curve and embraced this new era of digitisation which is driving demand for litigators who can think differently.”
